Green Tea Chocolate Homemade Face Mask
Posted on September 16th, 2008 2 commentsBoth green tea and chocolate can beneficial in skin care. You may be thinking that chocolate causes acne, but actually pure cocoa powder and dark chocolate contain many properties that can help with the heart, brain and skin. They contain epicatechins (bioflavanoid antioxidants) similar to those found in green tea. One cup of green tea contains 10-40mg of flavanoids, while 10% of cocoa powder (by weight) are flavanoids. These are rapidly absorbed by the body and help reduce the inflammation that causes many skin problems.
You can use both green tea and chocolate at home in your skin care routine. Here’s an easy and delicious natural facial mask for you to try.
Green Tea Chocolate Facial Mask
Ingredients:
- 1T of green tea
- 2 T cocoa powder
- 1 T honey
- 1 teaspoon of oatmeal flour
Directions:Steep green tea in hot water for 3 minutes. Remove tea and let cool. Mix remaining ingredients, then add green tea. Note: You may add more green tea in very small amounts to reach a consistency you like. Apply to face after cleansing. Leave on face for 15 minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water. Wipe off excess with warm washcloth. This mask will not dry out the skin and is good for all skin types. The honey anti-bacterial and acts as a humectant, drawing moisture to the skin. The green tea and chocolate supply antioxidants and astringent properties. The oatmeal adds a touch of exfoliation and is soothing to sensitive skin.
This recipe makes enough for one application. It also tastes delicious, so while you’re waiting for the mask to dry you can eat the remaining chocolate mixture and drink the green tea. Here’s to your skin health and pure enjoyment!

Lavender Skin Care

One of the world’s most beloved natural scents is lavender. The herb has been used for at least 2500 years, which proves its effectiveness. It is effective for many ailments such as headaches, wound, and sore throats. The scent is calming, yet uplifting to the spirits. Lavender can have this effect on the skin as well. Being anti-allergenic it can calm irritated skin which can be present in both acne and dry skin. In this way lavender is considered a balancing herb. Be sure to look for lavender skin care products with 100% pure essential oil, hydrosol or infusion.Try your own lavender facial. See my previous post on green tea facials. I explain how to incorporate lavender into your facial.

Green Tea Acne Scar Treatment
Posted on September 3rd, 2008 No commentsThis summer we spent a lot of time outdoors in the pool. I was beginning to worry because my skin was getting that leathery look and all I could to was cover it up with makeup. I also have acne scars, which just makes the problem worse. In one of my many efforts to achieve better health, I started drinking green tea.
I did know green tea was good for my skin, what I didn’t
know is that I would see visible results so quickly, especially for my
acne scars. The scars really have gone, or more likely been filled in with new skin growth. I’ve been drinking two cups of green tea on a regular basis now for a
little over a month, but I noticed a difference in about two weeks. I wish I’d taken a picture of my skin as a before picture.I’ve concluded that green tea is my acne scar treatment. What will happen if I stop drinking the green tea? I don’t know, but I do like the taste and it’s good for my health, so I’ll continue.
